The major objective of the project is to give an pportunity to young people from youth organisations to explore and debate the phenomena "Balkan identity" and the role of new media and communications for enhancing self-expression and self-labeling. The project also aims to discuss the phenomena "virtual identity" in modern media and the tendencies of unisex culture. | ||
1. The project will give the young people an opportunity to exchange ideas about different dimensions of Balkan identity and to express their personal point of view about that phenomena; 2. The project activities will try to explore the relations between the emigration in South-Eastern Europe and immigration processes in Western Europe and the identity finding problem for young people in this situation; 3. The project will present experience how to use modern media and communications to facilitate the identity expression and self-labeling in the space of modern media, for example, in Internet; 4. the project will train young people from minorities organisations (or organisations working with minorities) how to use modern media for identity presentation; 5. the project will also give the participants a chance to share positive experience in light of new media and technologies to encourage young people participation in the integration processes. |

Members and youth leaders of youth organisations in the
Balkan region, willing to co-operate with youngsters from
Central and Western Europe; 2. Media experts and students with interests in the field of modern media and information technologies; 3. young people from ethnic, religious and social minorities who would like to use new media and communications for preserving their identity; |

The main training and information exchange methods will be: Lectures, discussions, workshops, interactive exhibition , confrontation games, simulations. Some of them: (In)Visible Faces - workshop: - "The phenomena Balkan identity - fiction or reality" - lecture and discussion; - Interactive theatre "Balkan faces - prejudice and stereotypes" - the aim of the theatre is to simulate a situation , which the participants could overcome the negative images and distorted visions of about Balkans; - Freedom of self-expression - on-line discussion about possible ways for sharing experience using the new media and informatio technologies for "free speech" of personal opinion; - On-line simulation game "Virtual identity" - the participation will be able to choose some different identity; at the end will share impressions of being some one else; - "Unisex" - discission on the different dimensions of unisex culture; - "Youht emigration/immigration - escape of identity or forced mobility" - work in small groups; sharing of ideas and experience about the problem with the transformation of identity during the emigration/immigration processes; (In)Visible Faces - exhibition of personal unconventional web sites (the aim of the exhibition is to show the different ways of expressing our ouw personality); Social programme - there will be a number of events, aming to present Balkan culture - visits of ethnographical museums, art galleries, the Old city of plovdiv, taverns and pubs; Publishing poster and catalogue with presentations of the participants in the workshop "(In)Visible Faces"; Preparing WWW version of the catalogue. |
