music scene in eastern Europe “In the past year almost all the musical equipement needed for professional audio production has been released as real-time audio processing software thanks to Pentium computer technology. This means that almost anyone who thinks he/she has any creative ideas within the field of music can now produce those ideas to meet high standards of audio production, providing that he has the appropriate knowledge. Technical knowledge is also easier to acquire than before due to the Internet and the availability of tools and texts on the subject. It is not hard to imagine what this means for all musicians and their artistic feedom. Music grows in quantity, extending it’s limits faster than it already did, because of cheap production, but also because of previously unimaginable functionality of the complete music production in digital domain. As a member of “Technokratia” and journalist for “Svet Kompjuera” who covers the music software and hardware scene I’ve met many young people who take advantage of this software expansion in a very constructive way. Hundreds of young artists with their music demo tapes and CDs have already contacted “Technokratia”, and we have both radio and TV music charts dedicated exclusively to this emerging music scene.” Nikola Cosic was born in 1975 in Yugoslavia.
