list Visual Machines Born 1941 in Trieste (Italy), IBM Scholarship at the Computer Centre of the Univ. of Trieste. Programmer/consultant/system manager in the University Computer Center of the University of Trieste 1967-1986. Teaching Assistant of Computer Science at Univ. of Trieste from 1975 to 1985. Associate Professor of Computer Science at the Univ. of Trieste since 1986. “Calcolatori Elettronici” 1975-93; “Computer Graphics” 1990-93; “Calcolatori Elettronici” 1994-1998; “Fondamenti di Informatica” 1994-1997. Started to work in computer art in the 1970 with Edvard Zajec. In the seventies we implemented four computer art projects. Since 1984 I work on my ideas and projects. I am working on some ways one can use the computer as expression medium, a sort of “PADEC” = peacefull abstract digital expressionistic constructivism. In the years 1989-1993 I worked on the idea of a “video-keyboard” system, implemented as a “video-sequencer”. The last 6 years (1993-1998) I implemented some Visual Machines (VS =Vizualni Stroji) about the relation of the shaping of planar structures with several textures: a program instructs a computer to draws images: the program is a system of basic data (basic components of texture, deformations, color structures and state transitions) and of rules (algotithms); the programs (Pascal, Metrowerks Code Warrior Development System) run on an Apple Mac or Quadra machine. He has 6 personal Exhibitions and has participated in more than 15 exhibitions, conferences, festivals, etc. for 13 years. For example: “AICOGRAPHICS”, Milano, Italy; Gorizia/Trieste, Italy; Festival dell’Arte Elettronica”, Camerino, Italy; “FISEA (First Intern. Symposium of Electronic Art)” Utrecht, Holland; “MIPRO 89”, Rijeka, Jugoslavia; “T.I.S.E.A.; “Multiple Galerie”, Graz, Austria; “HICETNUNC ’94, Rassegna d’arte contemporanea”, S.Vito Al Tagliamento, Italy; Computer Kunst ’94", Gladbeck, Germany; “Digital expressions”, and others. |
